Just Wanted to Share

There is a little girl in Nathan's class and she is in a wheelchair. Her name is Caitlyn and her Mom told me the other day that Nathan is so cute and gets right in her face and does a cheesy smile to her. Well today Ms. Faye told me that he does cheesy smiles to her and will get behind her chair and play like peek a boo with her and he hugs her. She told me that Nathan really did like Caitlyn and Ms. Faye said that he will get her laughing so hard. And she said sometimes Caitlyn is looking around the room for Nathan. Well Nathan keeps saying, "I like Caitlyn, I give Caitlyn a big ole hug." I think that is so cute that he says big ole hug. I am sure he hears that from Ms. Harris and Ms. Faye. He is getting to where he will repeat some things that we say. The other night we were watching T.V. and Donald was tired of hearing one of the contestants ramble on so he said, "shut up." Then Nathan said, "Daddy said shut up." Then on our way home from church the other night Journey was on the radio and Nathan started singing the Journey song. He has made such progress since going to his school. Well I guess Nathan has another friend. It just makes me smile and so happy that Nathan is starting to make friends and is interacting so much more with other kids. Next Friday is graduation day at school. Nathan will be going to the 5 year old class. I hope it is not too hard for him to leave Ms. Harris and Ms. Faye. But his friend Gavin and his brother Braydon are going to the 5 year old class but I am not sure if Caitlin is or not. On Oct. 1 Nathan will have been there one year. That is so hard to believe but it was one of the best decisions that Donald and I made. Well I guess I have rambled enough about my sweet sweet boy. So here is a picture of my sweet boy.

It is BLAZING HOT

SweatyOk I think I am about ready for Fall and cooler weather. It is soooo HOT. I am so thankful for air conditioning. Mema, Nathan and I went to the commissary this morning and those of you that are not familiar with the Little Rock Air Force Base commissary it is always hot. They have this back room that has stuff that I always need so I have to go back there that is always so hot. They keep the doors open because they are getting stuff in to stock and there is no air back there so we go there first. I got hot back there and never did cool off the whole time I was shopping. So we said we are not going back until Sept. we will just suck it up and pay extra at Wal-Mart because the prices at the commissary are great. But we decided to pick staying cool over less expensive prices. But we did go to the splash zone and it felt great. We have decided that going to the splash zone is going to be our Saturday outing until it closes Labor Day weekend. Ok I guess I have whined enough about the HOT weather but of course we are in Arkansas so it is not just hot but also very HUMID. I guess that is the sacrifice we have to make for mild winters.

Movie Day

Today Nathan's class took a field trip to the movie theater to see a movie. I was one of the parents that went. A theater in Little Rock had a kid's day and showed a Muppets movie. They all did so good. They were all so well behaved and all sat in their seats and watched the movie. Nathan sat in his seat part of the time and in Mommy's lap part of the time. Nathan got a little antsy at the end and kept saying, "I am ready to go bye bye." I just told him we would go bye bye after the movie. So it was a good day and all of Nathan's classmates and Nathan did great at the movie.

The Splash Zone

Okay I know I keep talking about going to the splash zone and how much Nathan likes going there so we went back today and I decided to take my camera. So I got some pictures of the splash zone and Nathan playing in the water. It is such a great pool and we have gone the past two Saturdays and it has not been too crowded so we have decided that we will try to go every Saturday until it closes. The big blue slides in the background you have to pay an extra dollar and you get a band for your arm and you can go down as many times as you want to. You have to be at least 48 inches tall and Nathan is only 45 inches tall but Donald knows the head life guard so close to the end of the season Donald might ask her if he can take Nathan down the slide. There is also a regular adult pool. I hope everyone has a great week and enjoy the pictures.

Happy Friday

Happy Friday to everyone. Today is movie day at school for Nathan. They are going to watch the movie Cars. So of course I had to put on his Cars t-shirt that Mema Hullett got for him. And of course I had to take a picture so here is a picture of Nathan.
Nathan sat in the auditorium at church during services on Sunday and did good. I know some of you are thinking that is not a big deal but it is for Nathan. A month ago he would not even step foot into the auditorium he acted like he was scared. There is always children's worship on Sunday morning at church but this past Sunday they did not have children's worship. We usually ask Meemaw to take him home because she goes to first service and we go to second but this past Sunday we decided to try to take him in the auditorium. I had bought new number cards and a number book just for church since Nathan loves numbers. He did good but we did have to leave before church was over. Nathan has not learned what an inside and outside voice is it is just one volume for him usually loud. We sat right on the back row and he was looking at his number book then he started singing some number song he sings at school. Then he started saying his ABC's and he counted a few times he also said the nursery rhyme Peas Porridge Hot a few times. He said he was ready to go bye bye a few times. So we left early because there were people all around us and we thought he might be a little distracting. Well we went back on Sunday night and sat on the back row and there were not people all around us because there weren't as many people. Well Aunt Michele came in and I made the mistake of pointing her out to Nathan and he kept saying, "I want to go say hi to Aunt Michele please." We did manage to stay the whole time. Donald and I were very pleased with him and now when we go to church he says, "I want to go in the auditorium." That was a big step for him and we are very happy that he is making progress that way.

Today was Sprinkler Day

Sprinkler Today was sprinkler day at school for Nathan. Nathan loves to play in the water so I know he loves the water days at school. On August 1st they are going to have water slide day. They are going to have a big inflatable water slide. Like the one Nathan went down at the birthday party. I am so glad that they do different things on Friday for them at school. Not that Nathan knows any different about not going to school in the summer. He has been going to North Hills for 9 months and has made such great progress. Donald and I can see a lot of progress just in every day things that he will do by himself that he would not do before. I am so happy and thankful that we got him into North Hills and I am so happy that he will be going there next year before he starts kindergarten. We might try to go to splash zone again tomorrow. We always have such a great time there.

Not much else is going on. I have been trying to get rid of bronchitis for a couple of weeks. I am on my second round of antibiotics and the coughing has almost stopped. Luckily I have never felt bad just have had a cough. So hopefully the second round of antibiotics will get rid of it for good or at least until the Fall when I will probably get it again. I think that once you get bronchitis, I had it last winter pretty bad, you get it so easily after that. Oh well thank goodness for antibiotics. Donald has been riding his bike a lot lately. He is planning on riding in the 100 mile Big Dam Bridge ride in September. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

The Fireworks

Just thought I would add a little bit more on what we did yesterday. We went to the fireworks show at the base last night. It was Nathan's first time to see fireworks. We were not sure how he would do but he did great. We got out there a little after 7 p.m. and we were by a little play ground so he played. There was free ice cream, and drinks. They shot off the fire works across the base lake at about 9:30 p.m. Nathan liked the fire works but they lasted just a little too long for him. He kept saying, "Ready to go bye bye." So we told him after the fire works we would go bye bye. He kept his fingers in his ears because they were a little loud. But he did so good. That is the latest he has ever stayed up and he was pretty tired when we got home. Then today we went back to the splash zone because we could not go yesterday because there were scattered thunder storms and they would not open the pool. So we came home and Nathan played in the back yard in his little pool. Hope everyone has a great week.
