First trip to the Dentist

Dentist Today was Nathan's first trip to the Dentist. We took him to our Dentist and he saw our Dental Hygienist, Susan. We just love Susan she is like a member of the family she comes to all our parties and also even went to my Dad's retirement party. I had debated on trying to get an appointment with a pediatric dentist but the more I thought about it the more I was more comfortable with him seeing Susan. He has said all day that he was going to see Ms. Susan and when we would ask him how he was going to do for Ms. Susan to look at his teeth he would open his mouth wide. That was before we got there. He was not real sure about laying down in the chair. And was not real thrilled about her looking in his mouth. So we had to pretty much hold him down and force him to open his mouth. She got to look at all his teeth and said they looked good and no cavities. So that was it for the first visit. He goes back in June. One of the receptionist recommended letting him come with one of us when we have to get our teeth cleaned so he can see what she does. So we will probably do that. Dr. Dacus was working on someone in the next room and Nathan kept going in there watching them. They are so nice and laid back there that they did not even care. So he has at least gone and met Susan and hopefully each time he goes will get a little better.

I am addicted

to blogging. I have come to the conclusion that I must be addicted I just love to get on my blog and just type whatever is on my mind and do it often. I just hope that all my friends and family are not thinking Oh no Sherri is blogging again. Well all I can say is you can blame my wonderful sister-in-law, Khristy who started blogging and got my hooked. So anyway not much has been going on since my last post. Nathan is still out of school and he goes back to school on Monday and Donald goes back to work on Monday. I have really enjoyed having them both home with me. Today we went to the base, Daddy had to sign some time cards at work, so Nathan and I tagged along. Daddy will have a whole new office when he goes back on Monday. It is so nice they have a big fancy 52" TV and a big leather couch(could be fake leather but it is real nice). I am sure the TV is for training DVDs and such only. Hysterical And their little cubicles they had before are so much bigger now. So it is real nice. Then we went to Walmart and got my freezer. Yeah!

Just a little note about Nathan. I don't even know how many years ago it has been but he lost his big toe nail. Well the nail never did grow back normal. Yesterday we had gone to the store and when we got home he took off his shoes and socks. Well a little bit later Donald was going to take him on a walk and noticed that his toe nail was bleeding and it was what looked like torn. So since it was bleeding well you know what that means we had to put on a band aid and for those of you that don't know Nathan absolutely hates band aids. Well I was holding him down and Donald was trying to put the band aid on and Nathan was crying, "Put the band aid on later." I am not kidding if anyone would have heard him they would have thought we were cutting his toe off. So we have to keep a band aid on it for a few more days. Mema suggested putting super glue on the toe nail. So she gave me some with a brush that we can put on like polish so we may try that.

Well I guess I have rambled long enough. Thank you to all my family and friends that tolerate my rambling on my blog. I hope everyone has a great week.

Trans Siberian Orchestra

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! That is really all I can say about the concert last night. It was a 3 hour concert and they put on such a good show. This is Donald and My 3rd year to go. We will probably go again next year. Mema was our babysitter. Nathan likes from Mema to give him a bath because she lets him play for a long time in the bath tub. We had a good time and the weather was not cold so we did not have to worry about having coats. The weather today is stormy and warm we are all wearing short sleeves today. Tomorrow it is supposed to get cooler again. Once again the crazy weather of Arkansas.

We took down our Christmas stuff today. I told Donald that I loved Christmas but it was always so nice to get everything down and your house back to normal. Of course it is rainy so Donald did not get to take the outside stuff down.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas SantaMerry Christmas to everyone. I hope everyone is having a great Christmas so far. We have opened our presents here and are going to go to Mema and Granddad's house later and have lunch and open more presents. Nathan was not excited about opening presents which did not surprise us. I figure one day he will like opening presents. He did know that Santa came he kept saying last night that Santa was going to come and bring him toys. So he did know that Santa came. I got a few pictures of him playing with some of his things he got. He got a Curious George stuffed animal from Mema Hullett and really likes him and Uncle Shawn and Aunt Khristy gave him a big truck that he has been playing with. We got him a Spider man Sit N Spin and he likes to make it play music he got on it once and did spin a couple of times. He keeps saying he likes that Sit N Spin but I think he likes to make it play music more than ride it. I will post more pictures later after we get home from Mema and Granddad's.
Donald got me a small digital camera. I always carry a disposable camera in my purse and always want a camera with me. So Donald bought me a small digital camera. He also got me a very pretty diamond necklace and a digital frame. Mema Hullett gave me a very pretty heart necklace with emeralds. So so far I am doing real well with the gifts.

OK we are now home and Christmas is coming to an end. We had a great day at Mema and Granddad's. I took some more pictures with my new camera, which will probably become our main camera now. It is a lot smaller and I can carry it with me. We got some good presents. Mema and Granddad gave Donald and Me a gift card to Walmart for a new freezer. So I am super happy about that I kept telling Donald I was going to get a freezer to put in the garage because our freezer in the fridge is always so packed full. Mema has one and loves it and got hers at Walmart so she got us a gift card to get one. Donald has to go out in the morning because my beautiful necklace(it is the open hearts that Jane Seymour designed if you have seen the commercial)is missing a couple of diamonds and my digital frame the adapter does not fit. So Donald is going to take them back tomorrow. But other than that everything was great. I have added a few more pictures.

Tomorrow night Donald and I are going to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. We went last year and it was great so we got tickets early and are going to be on the 4th row. So Meemaw is going to babysit and we are going to the concert.

I feel old

OK yesterday after church we went to the Chinese restaurant. Nathan likes to go eat Chinese, well the Moo Goo Gui Pan Chicken only and a lot of it. Anyway we went to the restaurant and we were eating and Nathan kept giving me hugs. This older couple were leaving and the lady asked me, "Is he your Grandson?" Excuse me do I look that old? I told her no he was my son and she told me he was cute and she could tell he really loved me. So I said Thank You and when they left I told Donald OK that is the first time anyone asked me if Nathan was my Grandson. I thought they looked like Grandparents but they probably had kids young and were probably Grandparents at my age. So I put on extra face cream for my wrinkles last night and I might have to cover up my gray hairs.
Bounce
Tomorrow Granddad has an appointment at the VA Hospital in Little Rock so Daniel and Rachel are going to stay here tomorrow. They are out of school for Christmas and of course David and Michele have to work so they are staying at Meemaw and Granddad's during the week. Since Meemaw and Granddad will be gone tomorrow they are staying here. Nathan will be excited because they will be here. Of course Rachel will get her coloring stuff out and probably make up a game for everyone to play. She has already made Christmas presents for everyone and wrapped them and put them under Meemaw's tree. She is so cute I was over there the other day and she had made Granddad's present and was showing me and Granddad walked into the room and she hid it behind her back. She is so sweet.

Christmas at the State Capital

We went to the State Capital tonight and looked at the lights and the decorations. It was very pretty. I remember when I was a little girl they used to get a great big tree and put it right in the middle of the bottom room and it went all the way up to the ceiling. Times have changed and now they have a smaller tree. But I managed to get a few pictures and actually got one of Nathan in front of the tree(he was looking at Daddy but Oh well he is in front of the tree). After that we drove through the lights at Burns Park. We had to wait in a long line for about 15 minutes before we got in and Nathan is not known for his patience so he had a small break down before we got in to see the lights. But once we got to rolling he was fine.
I went with Mema and one of her friends to hear the Arkansas Symphony Christmas show today. We went to lunch before the show and had a very good time. The show was very entertaining. Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend.

Less than one week until Christmas

3D SantaCan you believe that is is less than one week until Christmas? My shopping is done the cards are finally mailed and all the gifts are mailed so now I just have to wait until Christmas. Today was Nathan's Christmas party and Toy land where they all got a toy. They said that Nathan's class would be in toy land 11:15 until 11:45 so I got there at 11:10 and they were finishing up they started early and I missed it all. I got there to see him open his present and he saw me and did not open his present and said he wanted to go home so when I left he was crying and I had to shuffle him off to Ms. Patty and Ms. Amber(his occupational therapist and speech therapist) to calm him down. He loves Ms. Patty and Ms. Amber. I almost did not go but decided to so I should have gone with my first thought because I was there about 10 minutes long enough for Nathan to see me and start crying because I was not taking him home with me. Oh well if there is a next time I will know better. I did get a cute picture of him and Gavin playing this morning when they got to school. Gavin and Nathan play very well with each other. They are so much a like. Donald is taking leave for two weeks so I get both of my favorite guys home with me for two weeks. I am really looking forward to having them both home.
Of course the weather in Arkansas is so crazy. We had icy cold weather in the 20s on Tuesday and today the high was 66. Tomorrow night it is supposed to get cold again. Crazy weather.

Baby It's Cold Outside

ShiverOK for my friends and family that live in the North and in Alaska it is not real cold for y'all. It is 29 degrees here and that is cold for us. It started sleeting yesterday afternoon and last night so needless to say we have icy streets this morning. All the schools are closed and not too many people are out. Donald called in and no one is at work so he is still home. He went outside to see how everything is. This is one thing I like about not working I don't have to worry about getting to work. On the news they are saying stay inside unless you have to get out. So we are all staying inside and staying warm. It is not supposed to get above freezing today or tonight and the high tomorrow is supposed to be in the lower 40s. So Nathan might not go to school tomorrow either. Of course just to let everyone know how weird Arkansas weather is, it is 29 today and is supposed to be 64 on Friday. So Nathan will probably not miss his Christmas party Friday. Friday is his last day of school until Jan. 5.
I hope everyone has a great rest of the week and try to stay warm.

The Ornament Party

Ornaments Our ornament party was a success again this year. I think this was our 8th year to have the party. We always have so much fun. There were 18 women here and a lot of laughing and just having a great time being together. I posted one picture. Do you like my reindeer antlers? I just wear them once a year at our ornament party. It was so much fun now we will start working on next years party.

Also I got all the gifts mailed yesterday. So now it is smooth sailing until Christmas.

Yeah! I have finished my shopping

Ok so I have finished but that does not mean that I am done going to the stores and shopping because of course I love doing that done with my list or not. I am going to try to get the gifts mailed tomorrow or the next few days. Tomorrow we will be busy trying to get the rest of the food for our ornament party on Saturday. I will try to take some pictures and post them or at least post an update on how the party goes. Of course I know we will have a great time.
Donald got back last night about 9 from an overnight trip he went on. He rarely goes on an overnight trip and thought he would go on this one. They were going to fly up to Pennsylvania and pick up troops to drop or vice verse. They left Tues. morning and it was raining and nasty. He called Tuesday night and said the weather was very bad and the plane got hit by lightning(which I thought sounded bad but he said it was no big deal, minor damage to the plane) so they got diverted to Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport. They spent the night there then flew to Pennsylvania and did the drop. So he got home safe and sound.
I did post a few cute pictures. I hope everyone has a good rest of the week and remember Christmas is just around the corner.

Almost Christmas

Can you believe that it is a little over two weeks until Christmas. I hope everyone is doing good and almost done with your shopping. I still have a few things to pick up but I have gotten a lot done. We started taking our Christmas stuff out and putting it up the Sat. after Thanksgiving and Nathan loves the trees and has done great about not bothering them or the ornaments. Nathan has his favorite decorations that we put up last year and the singing snowman is one of his favorites. Next Saturday Meemaw and I are having our annual ornament party. We always have such a great time if everyone comes there will be 30 people. It seems like we add people to our list every year. Oh well we always say the more the merrier. Xmas Ball Nathan's class party is on the 19th and that is his last day of school until Jan. 5. We are planning on doing the same thing this Christmas that we do every year. Go to Mema and Granddad's house and have lunch and open presents. I hope everyone has a great week.

Happy Thanksgiving

Turkey WaveWell Thanksgiving is coming to an end for another year. I hope everyone had a good one. We had a very good one. We only had 11 this year last year we had 20 so Donald was not near as stressed. The weather was great the kids went outside and played. I took a few pictures of our day. Of course like we do each year my Mom and I get together and look at the ads and figure out where we are going to go first because of course everyone that knows me knows that the day after Thanksgiving shopping is one of my favorite days of the year .
Well really there is not any particular thing that either of us wants so we are getting a later start than we normally do. Meemaw is going to pick me up at 6:00 a.m. instead of 4:30 or 5:00. Of course even though there is really not anything we want we have to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving.
Shopping Spree
Now we are finishing off the day watching the Texas A&M game. Go Aggies. Then of course we will be watching the Oklahoma game Saturday night Go Sooners. So now it is time to get in the Holiday Spirit and start putting Christmas stuff up. I just love this time of the year. I hope everyone enjoys the pictures.

I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving

I just thought I would write a short update on what is going on here. Today was Nathan's last day of school for this week he is out for Thanksgiving break. Tomorrow is Daniel's 12th birthday which is so hard to believe that he will be 12. We are planning on having a birthday cake for him on Thursday. We are going to have a house full again for Thanksgiving this year. Not as many as last year but maybe around 13 people. Uncle Shawn and Aunt Khristy and kids will not be here this year neither will Uncle Robert and Aunt Becca and kids. Uncle Don from Oklahoma is here and hopefully Uncle Terry and Aunt Trish from Oklahoma will be here. Nathan had his picture taken at school with a Christmas background so all the Aunts and Uncles that read my blog you will be getting another picture of Nathan. They turned out real well Nathan did very good for the photographer. Donald took leave the whole week which has been nice having him home all week. Well I guess that is all for now I will take pictures on Thanksgiving and write a short update about our day then.

Happy Election Day

Election DayI did my duty and voted today. Donald and I tried to early vote about three times and it was unreal. It was over an hour wait so we decided to vote on election day. I went to vote around 9:30 and was in and out in 15 minutes it was great. Donald will have to vote after he gets off work so hopefully he won't have to wait. So now tonight instead of watching all the returns we are going to probably watch a movie. I got a phone call from the nurse at Nathan's school and she said that he was going around a table and tripped and fell face first on the table and busted his lip and cut his top gum. She said he was bleeding and did not want anyone to try to stop the bleeding or put ice on it. So I went up there and saw him playing on the play ground and motioned his teacher and she came over and said he was fine so I left him and really don't know how bad his injuries are. So I guess I will see when I pick him up this afternoon. I will let everyone know how he is. So if you have not voted get out and vote and have a great day.

Update on Nathan's injuries. Not as bad as I was thinking they might be. He did hit the table face first and busted his lower lip and the gum between his front teeth split. I did not get a real good look at the gum injury but the lip was a little swollen but he acted like it did not bother him. So he is Okay.

Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday to Donald

Birthday Candles PumpkinHappy Halloween and Happy Birthday to Donald. Last night was the first annual Fall Festival at Nathan's school. Nathan played a few games but he really just liked hanging out in Mrs. Harris and Ms. Faye's classroom with them. Rachel missed her carnival at school so she went with us. She got a lot of candy and did have fun playing the basketball games. She loves playing basketball although she did say the haunted house was lame. It was a little to small for her but she still had fun. Well this morning Nathan said he was going to go trick or treat again. I told him yes he was going to trick or treat again. Well we got in the car to go to school and we are on our way and he said it again that he was going to go trick or treat and I said yes after school. Well that is not want he wanted to hear he wanted to go now. So he started crying. I pretty much had to drag him into school. So he was crying when I left but Amber, his speech therapist was taking him and she told him that they would go play on the computer. So he was not having the best morning. Of course he is going to think that when we do go trick or treating we are going to the parking lot so I am not sure how well he will like going to houses. Oh well we will see what happens. I hope everyone has a great day and don't forget to turn your clocks back tomorrow night.

Trunk or Treat

Trick O’TreaterWe did trunk or treat last night in the church parking lot. I think Nathan had a good time. He did not care about the candy but like walking around looking at the lights. I think he got about 4 pieces of candy. There were some people that had little jack-o-lantern lights they put around their trunk and Nathan loved looking at those. Even though he did not really trick or treat I think he had a good time. We will probably go trick or treating again tomorrow night. He was dressed up as Superman again this year. I think he looks adorable in his costume but of course I think he looks adorable in anything.

The Pumpkin Patch

Well we went to the pumpkin patch today and it was a nice drive the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Nathan really liked looking at the pumpkins or the jack-o-lanterns is what he kept calling them. I tried to get a picture of him looking at the camera I was not successful in doing that. But I did post a few from our day. We were doing fine he played on a few slides, Donald and I shared a funnel cake YUM! Then Nathan saw the inflatable bouncy house and said he wanted to go in, well that was fine but there was a line of kids to get in. Well he did not want to wait in line and wanted to go in now and not wait. Nathan is not good with patience. Well when we tried to redirect him back to the pumpkins, slide whatever that was not working he wanted to go in. So we told him not now there was a line he did not like our answer so he started hitting. I really did not think that I should pull out the wooden spoon in front of all the people so we decided to just go. Well Nathan did not really want to go either so he just sat down on the ground. So Donald had to carry him to the car with him kicking and crying. So we had a good time at first then it turned sour. Oh the joys of parenthood.

Happy Friday

Happy Friday to everyone. Sorry it is later in the day but it is still Friday. I hope everyone had and are still having a great Friday and have a great weekend. The weather is gorgeous here it is definitely feeling like fall. I love Fall so I am loving this weather. Today we had a meeting at Nathan's school about his progress. He is still behind on what he should be at his age but he has improved a bunch since he started school at North Hills. It did make me feel better after talking to his therapists on the progress he is making. Because I am already stressing about him going to Kindergarten next Fall. But he still has this school year and summer so I am hoping he makes a lot more improvements before then. So I am going to stop stressing about that since I have a few months before he starts Kindergarten. Donald and I have noticed a lot of things he will do now that he would not do a few months ago and we have noticed a lot of improvements. He has great therapists and is going to a great school. His teacher from last year is Mrs. Harris and she loves Nathan and is always giving him kisses and hugs. She wears bright lipstick and always leaves a mark on him when he gets a kiss. So if he has a kiss on him I always tell him, "I see you have a Mrs. Harris kiss on you." He had one on him the other day when I picked him up so I thought I would take a few pictures. So here are a few pictures of Nathan with a Mrs. Harris kiss. We might try to go to a pumpkin patch tomorrow and get a few pumpkins so Donald can carve them. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and week. Enjoy the wonderful Fall weather.

Nathan's Marvel Super Heroes room

We have had Nathan's room painted for a week or so but we just now put up all the pictures and the Marvel Super Heroes appliques. I took a few pictures so everyone can get an idea how his room looks. He seems to really like it. He really likes Spider man so he really likes all the pictures. There is a picture of Bobby that Nathan has always liked. So we keep it in his room and he likes to take it off the wall. He will say, "Take Papaw off the wall." There is also a picture of me when I was about 3 or 4 and he really likes that picture too. So I hope everyone enjoys the pictures of Nathan's cool room. If you notice his empty book case we had to put all his books in the closet so he can not get them. He kept eating all his books when he was watching TV so we had to throw a lot away and we decided to move the others. He can only look at his book with supervision. In these pictures he is chewing on his Little People cow from his barn. I figured that is the best thing for him to chew on because I guess it is a sensory thing or bad habit but he usually chews on stuff when he is watching TV.

Road Trip to Texas

We got back from our trip to Texas last night. We had a good time and got to see Uncle Robert and Aunt Becca and Aiden and Ethan and also Uncle Shawn and Aunt Khristy and Caitlin, J.D. and Quinn. We also got to see Mema and Aunt Janice, Uncle Norman and Aunt Dorothy and some of Daddy's cousins.
We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express and Nathan did so good about sleeping. We took his little mattress from his bed and he slept very well. Saturday we all got together at Golden Corral and we were all in a room by ourselves which was very nice. I took some pictures of different people that were there. After we ate we all went back to the hotel and the kids put on their bathing suits. There was an indoor pool. Everyone went swimming except for Me, Aunt Becca and Aunt Khristy. Aunt Khristy stayed in our room because Quinn was taking a nap. They all had a lot of fun.
Sunday we went to church with Mema and Nathan went to Children's Worship and did not fuss at all about it. We went to lunch after church and started home after lunch. It was a fast short visit but we all had a good time and it was good to see and visit with everyone. Enjoy all the pictures I posted from our trip.
One more thing I need to mention is that we have a DVD player in the van and there are headphones so the person can watch a movie and the people in the front don't have to listen to it. Well this is the first trip that Nathan wore the headphones to watch his movie and we got to listen to our CD.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday to everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather is starting to feel more like Fall. It is cool in the mornings and gets warmer in the afternoons and cool at night.

On October 1 Donald pinned on Lieutenant Colonel. There was no ceremony he just went to work that morning with Lt. Col leaves on his shoulder instead on Major. So it is official now he is a Lt. Col.

Today is Rachel's 8th birthday. We are going over to Meemaw and Granddad's tonight to have cake and open presents. She is having a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's on Sat. and inviting her friends. But tonight is just for family and she will open her presents from us. We have also lived in this house for 8 years, we moved in the day Rachel was born.

Donald is taking leave on Wed. and Thurs. and we are planning on painting Nathan's room on Wed. We bought some Marvel Superheroes to stick on the wall and he has a Spider man poster, Fantastic 4 poster and a Marvel Superheroes poster. He really likes Spider man and always wants to wear his Spider man T-shirts so he really likes his Spider man poster.

We are going to go to Texas on Friday and come home on Sunday. Uncle Robert and Aunt Becca and Aiden and Ethan will be there so we will be able to see them. And hopefully we will get to see Uncle Shawn and Aunt Khristy and Caitlin, J.D. and Quinn sometime over the weekend. I am sure I will take pictures and will probably post them next week so keep checking.

I hope everyone has a great week and weekend.

Donald did it again

Bike Riding Yeah! Donald rode the 100 mile bike ride again this year and he rode it in a little over 6 hours. He was a little tired but feels fine and he had a better time this year than last year. He will probably ride in it again next year. This is two years in a row that he has ridden the 100 miles.

I talked to Nathan's Occupational Therapist last week and she does therapy with him using headphones and music. It is some sort of therapeutic music and she asked me if we would try to do it at home with him. So I did it with him today and he looked so adorable with the headphones on that of course I had to take some pictures.

Happy Fall Y'all

FallToday is the first day of Fall even though it doesn't really feel like Fall weather. This week it is going to be in the upper 80s. Last week we had a few days that felt fallish. I am ready for cooler weather. I posted a few pictures of Nathan. His hair was so wild yesterday that I had to take a few pictures. He was good about letting us wet his hair down before we went to church.
Donald is going to ride in the 100 mile bike ride on Saturday so I will let everyone know how it goes Saturday. I hope everyone has a great week.

Nathan's 5 year check up

Just thought I would let everybody know about Nathan's check up. We went to the Dr. today and he had his 5 year check up. He is doing good. He is 45 1/2" tall and weighs 41.6 pounds. He has grown exactly 3 inches since his 4 year check up. He did good about letting the Dr. look in his ears and listen to his heart and lungs and looking at him. But he was not so good about letting him look in his mouth. He really does not like people to look in his mouth. That is one reason that we have never taken him to the dentist. But we are going to start looking at trying to get an appointment for him to go to the dentist. I know it is past time for his first appointment. We have all recovered from the party and Nathan has been playing with his new toys. I hope everyone has a good week.

Happy Birthday Nathan

Yeah! Today is Nathan's birthday. We have had a great day and a blast at his birthday party. We had his party at the Jump Zone and it was a lot of fun. Of course he did not want to eat cake so I made sure I had rice krispie treats for him. And the funny thing is his friend Gavin from school does not like to eat cake either so he also ate rice krispie treats. He was leaning into his cake to blow the candles out and got icing on his shirt. He was not too interested in opening presents(which did not surprise us at all, maybe one day he will like to open presents). I opened the first one and it had lights and made sound and had buttons so he really liked that one then the next one was a big number book so he also liked that one. So he did not pay much attention to the other presents when I opened them. So when he left he was holding those two presents. When we got home I took all the presents out and he started playing will all of them. So we had a blast and I posted some pictures of the party. The only bummer of the whole day was that Mema and Granddad could not be at the party. Granddad is in the hospital so Mema was with him. But Mema from Texas was here. But other than that is was a great day.

Just some cute pictures of Nathan

Donald was gone to water survival this past weekend so I took a few cute pictures of Nathan. He cracks me up because he drinks his milk out of a plastic cup with a lid and straw and he still manages to get a milk mustache. I took a picture of him and if you look real close you might be able to see the mustache. He was also having so much fun in the bathtub so of course I had to take a picture. His big birthday party is Saturday so we are all looking forward to that. I ordered a big cookie to take to school on Friday for his class and then of course we will have the birthday cake on Saturday. He is having an Iron Man birthday this year and of course Donald and Nathan will have Iron Man shirts on. I don't figure Nathan will eat any cake so I plan of taking some rice krispie treats(his favorite)for him. I will add birthday pictures and tell all about the party this weekend.

Pictures of My Favorite Guys

It has been raining all day and is supposed to rain all week. I just thought I would post some pictures of my favorite guys. Nathan was relaxing on the couch watching Dora and I thought he looked so cute (of course I think he looks cute all the time) so I decided to take a picture of him. He likes to put his hands behind his head and he has always crossed his feet even when he was a baby. The other two pictures are of Donald and Nathan laying on the couch together and of course Donald could not resist but to give his sweet boy a kiss.

Happy Labor Day

Labor Day 2I hope everyone is having a nice relaxing Labor Day. We went to the Splash Zone today and had a good time. Of course Donald and I were watching Nathan's every move like a hawk since what happened the last time at the Splash Zone. We went to the Jump Zone last night and had fun. Donald is now mowing so Nathan is standing at the front door watching. He loves to watch people mow. He was upstairs with me when Donald started and he said, "I have to go downstairs and watch Daddy mow." So he ran downstairs and that is where he is now. Today was the last day the Splash Zone will be open. We had so much fun this summer going to the Splash Zone that we will miss it until next summer. I can't believe that Nathan's birthday party is in two weeks. Donald will be gone this weekend he is going to water survival. He will be back Sunday or Monday. I hope everyone has a great week.

Another Day at Splash Zone

Silly me saying we would probably not go back to Splash Zone because it was starting to cool off. I must have just been dreaming that it was starting to get cooler because it is not getting cooler it is still HOT. Monday is the last day that the Splash Zone will be open so we will probably go back on Monday also. Well we decided to go today after Donald rode his bike, he rode 56 miles today. We got there and the water felt great. We played some in the big pool and mostly stayed in the kiddie pool. Well one time Donald and I were sitting on one side of the kiddie pool and Nathan was in the water and then got on one side of the slide in the kiddie pool and we could not see him. So I walked over to the other side of the pool and could not see Nathan so I asked Donald if he saw him. Donald said no so I got out of the kiddie pool and looked in the big pool and saw this little boy that was flailing his arms and trying to stay above water and my heart dropped because it was Nathan. The lifeguard saw him the same time I did and we both jumped in at the same time. Nathan was not crying but seemed a little scared although I think I was more scared than he was. He tried to go back in the big pool but we said he had to go to the kiddie pool so he went back in the kiddie pool and played some more and acted like nothing happened. So Donald and I are definitely getting him swimming lessons next summer. I was so surprised that he jumped in on his own. So that was the excitement we had today.

Another Rainy Day

It has been raining off and on all day. We have had quite a bit of rain these past few days. We did need it. I took a few pictures of Nathan doing one of his favorite things, looking out the window in the spare room. For those of you that have never been to my house in the spare room are two windows and they are big windows and Nathan loves to stand on the window sill and look out the window. So today he was watching the rain. Donald also has a video rocker that Nathan loves to sit in and look out the window. Of course since it has been raining and not as hot we passed on going to the Splash Zone today. The water is already cold in the kiddie pool so we figured it would be extra cold today. We figured that our days at the Splash Zone might be over for the season. The last day it is open is Labor Day.

There is a small town not too far from here named Keo. There is a restaurant there named Charlotte's Eats and Sweets that is known for their pies. Well Donald, Mema, Nathan and I went there today for lunch and of course we all had to get a piece of pie. I got a piece of chocolate, Donald got Caramel, Mema got Coconut and of course Nathan got none because he is not much into sweets. Yes, he is my son and does not like sweets. His sweets consist of rice krispie treats, teddy grahams, Nilla Wafers and not much else. Anyway the pie was YUMMY!
Eating Pie
Not much else is going on. Donald rode 53 miles this morning on his bike. He is still training for the Big Dam 100 mile bike ride that is the end of Sept. Nathan's birthday is coming up in three weeks and we are going to have it at the Jump Zone. Of course I will take a lot of pictures and will tell everybody about the party. Nathan is doing real well in his new class. He really likes his new teacher. So we are very pleased. Well I hope everyone has a great week.

I Love being an Aunt

Now don't get me wrong I also LOVE being a Mom. I have two wonderful sweet nieces and five wonderful sweet nephews. Unfortunately I only get to see one of my nieces and one of my nephews often. For those of you that don't know my brother, David lives in the same town as I do so I get to see Rachel and Daniel often. Rachel is such a sweet sweet little girl. David called me yesterday and told me that Rachel had made my birthday present and they would have to come over some time. Last night there was a cook out and open house at the school so David and Rachel went and Rachel got to meet her new teacher. Rachel will be in the second grade and Daniel will be in the sixth so he starts middle school, which is so hard to believe. Anyway, David and Rachel came over last night after the cookout and she gave me my present which she had wrapped in orange tissue paper with a lot of tape. She had made me a necklace that said I love(a little heart) Sherri. She was so excited and I thought that was so sweet of her. I took a picture of it so y'all can see it too.

Happy Birthday to Me

Happy BirthdayToday is My Birthday so Happy Birthday to Me. So far it has been a good one, Donald gave me a beautiful peridot bracelet. I am going to go to lunch with one of my friends that I used to work with. Tonight my Mom and Dad are going to take us out to eat. So I think I am going to have a great birthday.

Nathan moved up to the 5 year old Kindergarten prep. class on Monday. He is not real good with change he cried on Monday and Tuesday but did good yesterday and today no tears. On Monday when we got to the parking lot he kept saying, "I want to see Ms. Harris." Ms. Harris was one of his teachers last year. When I pick him up he still has to go see Ms. Harris and Ms. Faye before we leave. I think Nathan still eats lunch with them. I think they all eat at the same time. But I think he will adjust fine. They work on the computer and Nathan loves doing that. He told me yesterday he was ready to go see Ms. Jane. She is his new teacher.

I went to my 25th high school class reunion a couple of weeks ago. It is hard to believe that I have been graduated from high school for 25 years. It was fun and I liked seeing all my friends from high school. The funny thing is that a lot of my classmates live in this area but I rarely see anyone. Of course a lot of my friends have kids starting college this fall and I have an almost 5 year old. Yes we are going to be the old parents.

Not much else is going on. Donald has been riding with a group on Sat. mornings training for the 100 mile bike ride that is at the end of Sept.

I guess that pretty much has updated everyone on what is going on here. I hope everyone has a great day on my birthday.

The Jump Zone

There is a place in North Little Rock called the Jump Zone that has all these inflatable slides and jump things. Well we went there the other day for the first time and Nathan liked it and had a lot of fun. So we have decided to have his birthday party that is next month at the Jump Zone. That should be a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures of Nathan at the Jump Zone. Also today was water slide day at school and Ms. Faye said Nathan had a great time.

Just Wanted to Share

There is a little girl in Nathan's class and she is in a wheelchair. Her name is Caitlyn and her Mom told me the other day that Nathan is so cute and gets right in her face and does a cheesy smile to her. Well today Ms. Faye told me that he does cheesy smiles to her and will get behind her chair and play like peek a boo with her and he hugs her. She told me that Nathan really did like Caitlyn and Ms. Faye said that he will get her laughing so hard. And she said sometimes Caitlyn is looking around the room for Nathan. Well Nathan keeps saying, "I like Caitlyn, I give Caitlyn a big ole hug." I think that is so cute that he says big ole hug. I am sure he hears that from Ms. Harris and Ms. Faye. He is getting to where he will repeat some things that we say. The other night we were watching T.V. and Donald was tired of hearing one of the contestants ramble on so he said, "shut up." Then Nathan said, "Daddy said shut up." Then on our way home from church the other night Journey was on the radio and Nathan started singing the Journey song. He has made such progress since going to his school. Well I guess Nathan has another friend. It just makes me smile and so happy that Nathan is starting to make friends and is interacting so much more with other kids. Next Friday is graduation day at school. Nathan will be going to the 5 year old class. I hope it is not too hard for him to leave Ms. Harris and Ms. Faye. But his friend Gavin and his brother Braydon are going to the 5 year old class but I am not sure if Caitlin is or not. On Oct. 1 Nathan will have been there one year. That is so hard to believe but it was one of the best decisions that Donald and I made. Well I guess I have rambled enough about my sweet sweet boy. So here is a picture of my sweet boy.

It is BLAZING HOT

SweatyOk I think I am about ready for Fall and cooler weather. It is soooo HOT. I am so thankful for air conditioning. Mema, Nathan and I went to the commissary this morning and those of you that are not familiar with the Little Rock Air Force Base commissary it is always hot. They have this back room that has stuff that I always need so I have to go back there that is always so hot. They keep the doors open because they are getting stuff in to stock and there is no air back there so we go there first. I got hot back there and never did cool off the whole time I was shopping. So we said we are not going back until Sept. we will just suck it up and pay extra at Wal-Mart because the prices at the commissary are great. But we decided to pick staying cool over less expensive prices. But we did go to the splash zone and it felt great. We have decided that going to the splash zone is going to be our Saturday outing until it closes Labor Day weekend. Ok I guess I have whined enough about the HOT weather but of course we are in Arkansas so it is not just hot but also very HUMID. I guess that is the sacrifice we have to make for mild winters.

Movie Day

Today Nathan's class took a field trip to the movie theater to see a movie. I was one of the parents that went. A theater in Little Rock had a kid's day and showed a Muppets movie. They all did so good. They were all so well behaved and all sat in their seats and watched the movie. Nathan sat in his seat part of the time and in Mommy's lap part of the time. Nathan got a little antsy at the end and kept saying, "I am ready to go bye bye." I just told him we would go bye bye after the movie. So it was a good day and all of Nathan's classmates and Nathan did great at the movie.

The Splash Zone

Okay I know I keep talking about going to the splash zone and how much Nathan likes going there so we went back today and I decided to take my camera. So I got some pictures of the splash zone and Nathan playing in the water. It is such a great pool and we have gone the past two Saturdays and it has not been too crowded so we have decided that we will try to go every Saturday until it closes. The big blue slides in the background you have to pay an extra dollar and you get a band for your arm and you can go down as many times as you want to. You have to be at least 48 inches tall and Nathan is only 45 inches tall but Donald knows the head life guard so close to the end of the season Donald might ask her if he can take Nathan down the slide. There is also a regular adult pool. I hope everyone has a great week and enjoy the pictures.

Happy Friday

Happy Friday to everyone. Today is movie day at school for Nathan. They are going to watch the movie Cars. So of course I had to put on his Cars t-shirt that Mema Hullett got for him. And of course I had to take a picture so here is a picture of Nathan.
Nathan sat in the auditorium at church during services on Sunday and did good. I know some of you are thinking that is not a big deal but it is for Nathan. A month ago he would not even step foot into the auditorium he acted like he was scared. There is always children's worship on Sunday morning at church but this past Sunday they did not have children's worship. We usually ask Meemaw to take him home because she goes to first service and we go to second but this past Sunday we decided to try to take him in the auditorium. I had bought new number cards and a number book just for church since Nathan loves numbers. He did good but we did have to leave before church was over. Nathan has not learned what an inside and outside voice is it is just one volume for him usually loud. We sat right on the back row and he was looking at his number book then he started singing some number song he sings at school. Then he started saying his ABC's and he counted a few times he also said the nursery rhyme Peas Porridge Hot a few times. He said he was ready to go bye bye a few times. So we left early because there were people all around us and we thought he might be a little distracting. Well we went back on Sunday night and sat on the back row and there were not people all around us because there weren't as many people. Well Aunt Michele came in and I made the mistake of pointing her out to Nathan and he kept saying, "I want to go say hi to Aunt Michele please." We did manage to stay the whole time. Donald and I were very pleased with him and now when we go to church he says, "I want to go in the auditorium." That was a big step for him and we are very happy that he is making progress that way.

Today was Sprinkler Day

Sprinkler Today was sprinkler day at school for Nathan. Nathan loves to play in the water so I know he loves the water days at school. On August 1st they are going to have water slide day. They are going to have a big inflatable water slide. Like the one Nathan went down at the birthday party. I am so glad that they do different things on Friday for them at school. Not that Nathan knows any different about not going to school in the summer. He has been going to North Hills for 9 months and has made such great progress. Donald and I can see a lot of progress just in every day things that he will do by himself that he would not do before. I am so happy and thankful that we got him into North Hills and I am so happy that he will be going there next year before he starts kindergarten. We might try to go to splash zone again tomorrow. We always have such a great time there.

Not much else is going on. I have been trying to get rid of bronchitis for a couple of weeks. I am on my second round of antibiotics and the coughing has almost stopped. Luckily I have never felt bad just have had a cough. So hopefully the second round of antibiotics will get rid of it for good or at least until the Fall when I will probably get it again. I think that once you get bronchitis, I had it last winter pretty bad, you get it so easily after that. Oh well thank goodness for antibiotics. Donald has been riding his bike a lot lately. He is planning on riding in the 100 mile Big Dam Bridge ride in September. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
