Funland

There are some rides at Burns Park called Funland and we went on Saturday and Nathan rode the kiddie rides but also the big rides. So now we are thinking that we may try to take a trip to Six Flags this summer. It was a beautiful day and we all had a good time. Nathan was riding the kiddie rides(actually he is too tall for some)then Donald and I asked him if he wanted to ride the tilt a whirl and the scrambler and he said yes. He really liked the tilt a whirl and rode it twice. The scrambler is ever faster than the tilt a whirl but he liked it. So it made us happy that he liked the "big" rides. Not much else happened over the weekend. I cooked poppy seed chicken Saturday night and Memaw and Granddad came over and also Cousin John and his friend Barbara. I hope everyone has a great week.

The Arkansas Travelers baseball

We had a great weekend. We went to see the Travs play ball. Memaw and Granddad have season tickets and their seats are great. All we had to do were buy tickets and take our own chairs and we could sit by their seats. We went Friday night and Saturday night. Nathan had a good time and was very good. Where the seats are Nathan is able to stand up and walk around without disturbing anyone. We are planning on trying to go to a lot more games this summer.

We had Nathan's annual review at school. They said he has improved and progressed a lot and he is doing very good. He will continue with his speech, occupational and physical therapies next year with the same therapist. The plan is to put Nathan in the transition class as a 1st grader(very scary knowing he will be in the 1st grade)and he will go to a regular 1st grade class for one hour a day with a paraprofessional(aide). If he does very good they can increase the amount of time in a regular class. So I feel very good about next year and have no worries. I guess I can start worrying again this time next year when we are getting ready for the 2nd grade.

Happy Tax Day

Well I guess it can be happy for some people who are getting a refund. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous even though the pollen has been awful. Nathan had a field trip last Friday they walked to the fire department. I drove to the school and hid out in the parking lot to see them walking to the station and they all looked so cute. I had to really keep out of sight because I know Nathan and he was looking around and there is nothing wrong with his eyes so I am sure he would have spotted the car if he could have seen it. They are going on another field trip tomorrow and are going to a gymnastics place and jump around and have a good time. I think either this month or next month they are going to go to the zoo. We have a meeting about Nathan on Monday. I already talked to the speech therapist that is in his room and she said their plan with Nathan is that he will stay in the class for half the day and then go to a regular 1st grade class with a paraprofessional(aide) with him. His teacher told me that the other day she was using the number flash cards and they were counting to 30(which everyone that knows Nathan knows he loves numbers and he has counted to 150)she said that some of the kids did not know all the numbers and Nathan was calling them all out, so she told him he could go the the play area since he did so good. He went to the play area and she was going over the cards again with the other kids and she said he was just straining to see and when she would ask the kids what the number was she said she could hear Nathan calling out the number. I guess that is it for the update I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter Bunny Happy Easter to everyone. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I just got back yesterday afternoon. My Mom and I left on Wednesday and drove to Oklahoma City because my Uncle had surgery on Thursday. We had my GPS so we went driving around Oklahoma City and found a good mall to go to on Friday and we had dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse and it was YUM. Like Mother said if we did not have the GPS we would have stayed in the hotel and at the hospital but we were adventuresome and got out. We also got to have dinner on Wednesday with Uncle Terry and Aunt Trish and really enjoyed the short visit with them. Wednesday before I left I went to an awards assembly at Nathan's school. He got another Citizenship ribbon and they had a little assembly so the kids could get their ribbons. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and great week.

Spring Break Fun

It is hard to believe that Spring Break is almost over and Nathan goes back to school on Monday. We did not go anywhere big but we did have a fun week. On Monday we went to visit some friends. Nathan got to see his friends Gavin and Braydon who went to school with him at North Hills. I also got to visit with my good friend Brandy. We had a good day hanging out with them at their house. We went to Hot Springs on Wednesday and Memaw went with us. We had a good time shopping and eating lunch. We even drove by the race track when we were leaving and even saw some horses on the track. They were getting ready for a race. So we had a fun day. Of course Nathan would have loved to stay on the road all day riding. He loves to ride in the car and always tells me he wants to stay on the Interstate when we get off. We went to Little Rock yesterday and did a few things. Today was a beautiful day and windy so it was great kite flying weather so we went to the playground and played and flew the kite. My Uncle is having surgery on Thursday in Oklahoma City so Mother and I are driving there for the surgery. We are planning on leaving Wednesday and coming home on Saturday. So Nathan is going to be having some good Daddy/Nathan time. Donald took leave on Wednesday and Thursday and he is off Friday and Nathan is out of school on Friday. I am sure they will have a lot of fun. I hope everyone has a great week.

The Daffodils at Wye Mountain

Today was a very beautiful day. There is a small town in Arkansas named Wye and every year they have a daffodil festival. There is a church that has a lot of acres and they are covered in daffodils. We have gone several years. Nathan's first visit he was just 6 months old. We decided to go look at the daffodils since the weather was so nice. Nathan was not too thrilled about having his picture taken but we got a few. Spring break is this week and we don't have a lot of plans. Nathan and I are going to go to spend the day with Braydon and Gavin(Nathan's friends from North Hills) and Brandy. So we are looking forward to that. Then another day we will probably go to Little Rock to run a few errands. Then I think on Friday we are planning on going to Hot Springs with Memaw. So we are just going to do a few local things and not anything big, but I am sure we are going to have a great Spring Break.

What has been happening.

First of all I want to say I am sorry that it has been over a month since I last blogged. I want to say I am sorry to the friends and family that check out my blog often for updates(sorry Aunt Trish). Okay here is what has been happening in the last month. Since we got our snow and four days out of school(I called it our winter break) the weather is starting to get to be so nice and has been gorgeous and giving us all spring fever. We had stormy weather last Wed. night and a few tornadoes outside of Little Rock. That is the one thing about this time of year it is tornado weather.

Yesterday we went to the Pinewood Derby or Powder puff Derby is what is was called. Rachel is a brownie this year and she had a car in the Derby. She won two of the races but did not get any trophy. It was fun and Nathan did enjoy seeing the cars race. Last night Donald's cousin John came over for dinner and Donald and John played a little bit of guitar hero before John left. John lives in Conway and is a professor at UCA so we get to see him often. Donald said he has spent more time with John now then he ever did growing up. Last week we went to John's house and he had made dinner. He has two little poodles and Nathan seemed to like them. Memaw Hullett came for the weekend. She is planning on going home tomorrow.

They are having a book fair at Nathan's school next week and Donald and I are planning on volunteering to help next Friday. Nathan's spring break is the week of March 22nd. We are not planning on going anywhere but I am sure Memaw, Nathan and I will go on a few day trips to Hot Springs and maybe Conway. It is hard to believe that Nathan only has a little over two months of school left. It is a little scary. This class Nathan is in now is so great and I really wish he could stay there until he graduates. We are planning on getting Nathan some Occupational Therapy during the summer. We really think that Nathan can not go two months with out any kind of therapy and we don't want him to regress. It is going to be with a therapist that he has had and she is so sweet and Nathan loves her.

Well I guess I will close for now. Hopefully this has updated everyone. I will definitely try to be better about blogging and try not to wait so long the next time. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
