Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day BBQI hope everyone has a great Labor Day. Just thought I would write a little bit. Nathan has been doing very well in school. There are just a few things that the teacher said he needed to work on. He does not really like to color and when the teacher has told him to color sometimes he does not. She also said that he told her no when she told him to stay on his mat at nap time(I think Nathan is the only child that does not take a nap). Also one day he was doing lines and the teacher said he did real well then he scribbled on the page and she wrote a little note on the page. She did send home a little note that said Nathan was participating in the pre-reading group and was doing well. So far each week he brings home papers on Friday and they are learning a color and how to spell it and what things are that color. Last week it was red and they learn a song, this week it was blue. I sang the blue song and then I asked Nathan if he could spell blue and he sang the song and spelled blue then I asked him if he could spell red and he sang the song and spelled red. So I guess some things are sinking in. Next Friday they are having lunch and have invited Grandparents for Grandparents day. So Mema and Granddad and I will be going for lunch. Then next Saturday is the big birthday party for Nathan. He is having a Wolverine birthday. It will be at the Jump Zone again this year so I know we will have fun. I will post pictures of his party.

One more thing I forgot to post that Donald rode in the Hotter N Hell 100 mile bike ride in Wichita Falls last Saturday. He rode it in a little less than 6 hours. He got home Sat. night around 10:45. The next big ride for him is pm Sept. 26 it is the Big Dam Bridge 100 mile bike ride. I guess that is it, I think I have updated everyone.

Fun Day and Burns Park and Funland

The weekend weather has been gorgeous. We went to Burns Park and Funland today and Nathan had fun riding some of the rides.

Nathan had a good first few days of school. When we had the open house I told his teacher that he probably would not tell them when he needed to use the bathroom so I was sure there would be some accidents. Well the first day we picked him up the teacher said he would not go to the bathroom for her and kept saying he would go for Mommy when Mommy came, so he held it all day long which really surprised me. The next day was the same held it all day. The teacher suggested that maybe I could buy something as a reward for going for her. So we went to Walmart and we found some number stickers(actually they were poster board stickers)and he really wanted them so I told him that Mrs. Ross would give him one if he would go to the bathroom for her. When I picked him up on Friday Mrs. Ross said the numbers worked. So I was relieved that he did go for her so now I know he will be okay about the bathroom situation. He also brought home a little slip that said he got caught paying attention. I really like the class and feel really good about it. There is the teacher, speech therapist, and three para professionals in the room all the time. There are only 15 kids in the class. So he is getting close to one on one help. I hope everyone has a good week. Donald is leaving Friday to go to Wichita Falls to ride in the Hotter Than Hell 100 mile bike ride on Saturday.

First Day of School

Well today is Nathan's first day of Kindergarten. It was a smooth drop off. We got there and dropped him off at his class and Mrs. Ross(his teacher) had him hang up his backpack and then I told him to go sit at his seat(she had put there names on the table). The only problem was the other night when we were there for open house there was a number chart out well this morning it was gone and of course Nathan noticed that first thing. He kept saying, "Where are the numbers?" and was looking for them. He sat down and we said bye and when we were leaving I heard him saying, "Mommy and Daddy will be back later." So there were no tears. He did not cry and I know everyone will be shocked but I did not cry. But if he would have cried I know I would have. But he is going to be on my mind all day. But after meeting the teacher and seeing the class I feel really good about it and know this is where Nathan needs to be. I know he will do fine. Of course I had to take a few pictures.

Graduation Day

Teddy Grad '09 Today Nathan Graduated from North Hills Child Development Center. He did very good. He even wore his cap. He did not sing any of the songs, even though he has been singing them at home. All the kids did good. It was sad and tearful for me. I am going to miss the comfort of his special needs school and I am going to miss a lot of the people. Nathan has gone there almost 2 years and I have become attached to some of the people. It is a great school. But I know he has to grow up and I do feel real good about the class he is going to. We are going to go to the school next week some time so Nathan can see the school and I think they are having an open house the Monday before school starts. He starts on August 19. I did take a few pictures today. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

It is already August

It is hard to believe that it is already August and Nathan graduates from North Hills Friday and he starts Kindergarten on August 19. Time is just flying by. Nathan has gone for a walk with Daddy. He loves to go for walks with Daddy, so I decided to get on and blog a little bit. I hope everyone is doing good. It has been a rainy day. I think we set records for rain fall in July and it is the first day of August and was raining. We have our shingles sitting by the side of the house just waiting on the roofing company to get to us and put on our new roof. There are a lot of people in Sherwood getting new roofs, that hail storm was bad.

Mema Hullett is coming Thursday for Nathan's graduation on Friday. I still can't believe that he is about to leave North Hills. It is such a great school. But I do feel good about the class he is going to and I am a little excited too because he is growing up.

He was playing with his baby the other night and I thought he looked so cute so I took a few pictures. I hope everyone has a great week. I will probably post some graduation pictures and blog a little on Friday.

Trip to the Zoo

Today we went to the zoo. Daddy and Mommy learned a few things today. First we should not go to the zoo in the afternoon because a lot of the animals are not out. Second we should not let Nathan ride the carousal first because he does not want to get off then when he does he is ready to go home. Donald rode 68 miles today with a group he has been riding with on Saturdays and they rode to Conway and back and then we went to the zoo. When we got there Nathan said he wanted to ride the horse so of course we said yes. He rode it had a good time but did not want to stop riding it and get off. So Donald had to drag him off with him crying. Then Nathan was not happy and said he was ready to go home. So I told him no we were going to go see some animals. He whined a little bit but did get better. He loves to see the fish and feed them, so he got to do that. I do think it was a little hotter than they said it was going to be. But over all we had a good time but like I said before we did learn some things from this visit. I did take a few pictures of course. Then tonight Daddy's cousin, John, came over and Daddy grilled out some burgers and we all had a nice visit. So we have had a very nice day. I hope everyone has a great week.

Nathan's new bed

Nathan got a new bed. Yes, he did just get out of his toddler bed. The mattress was 52 inches long and he is just 48 so he had a few to go. We went ahead and bought a twin bed with two drawers under the bed. We also bought a 5 drawer chest to match. He really seems to like it and now we don't have to buy him another bed. I told Donald he can sleep in this bed until he moves out of the house. I did take a few pictures of him on his new bed.

He went to see Dora live and his teachers said everyone had a great time. I told him Dora was going to be on the stage and he kept saying he wanted to go on the stage. They did get to ride the little bus to the show. I think that is what Nathan liked the best, he likes to ride on the bus. Of course he likes to just ride he has always like riding in the car. One of his teachers said they did a song about numbers and she watched Nathan and he stood up and got real excited, because we all know he loves numbers. I guess that is it for now I hope everyone has a great weekend.
