Snow Day

Snow DayWell actually it is an Ice Day. It is below freezing and has been raining all night and is still raining so it is icy. If it was going to do something I would rather it snow than ice. We usually get ice and sometimes snow. So we are staying in today and staying warm.
Not much else is going on. Everyone is doing fine. It is getting that time of year that I have to register Nathan for Kindergarten. I am going to try to get him into Sherwood Elementary. We are zoned for Sylvan Hills but I would like to get him into Sherwood because Rachel will still be there and it is only a block from Mema and Granddad's house so he could walk with Rachel after school down to Mema's. I have contacted the District office and was told that since I am not trying to get out of the District I need to come down there in March and just fill out a transfer form. Rachel really wants him to go there. She told me that the 3rd graders(which is what she will be next year) reads to the Kindergartners. I also know it is a good school and has a good special ed program. Nathan will get his therapies at school. Of course I am so nervous and have been worrying about him going to Kindergarten for a while. But I have decided to stop worrying and just turn it over to God and let him take care of it. He has taken care of Nathan all his life and I know he will continue to do so. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week.

Just thought I would post some cute pictures. Nathan's speech therapist has been trying to get Nathan to eat Twizzlers and chew gum because of his sensory issue and he chews. Well Saturday he kept saying he wanted to chew on a Twizzer I could not figure out what he was saying then I figured it out and asked him if he wanted a Twizzler and he told me Yes. Well he has chewed on them in the past and left pieces all over and half chewed Twizzler in the house. So I watched him close and he ate it. I was so surprised he ended up eating 4 Twizzlers. I was happy because I give him one if he starts chewing on something. Now the goal is to get him to chew gum. I told his therapist that I am convinced that she can get him to chew gum because she got him to eat Twizzlers. So one of the pictures is of Nathan in his favorite spot(sitting on the vent) eating a Twizzler.

Happy Monday

Just thought I would write a little on my blog to update everyone. Nathan did not have school today and it was not because it was Martin Luther King day. I got a call last night and there was a water line break down the road from Nathan's school so there was not water so he was home today. Donald was also off today. Donald had to get his teeth cleaned today and we took Nathan so he could see what Susan does when she cleans teeth. He watched a little bit when she was working on his teeth. Mema Hullet came Friday night and she left this morning. So we had a nice visit with her. We went over to Mema and Granddad's house Sat. night and had pizza and cake for Uncle David and Aunt Michele's birthdays. Uncle David's birthday was the 16th and Aunt Michele's birthday is the 25th. Mema and Granddad's anniversary is today, they have been married 47 years. So we had a fun weekend. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week.

The Basketball Game

Rachel had her first basketball game today and we went. David is one of her coaches, they all looked so cute. Rachel loves basketball so David and Michele got her on this little basketball team. It is a Christian oriented team and they don't take score or call fouls. It is a good way for them to learn about the game and how to play. Although Mema did take score and Rachel's team won. Nathan did OK he got a little antsy at the end it lasted about an hour. He was fine when we got there and he could see the whole court but when they started the game they lowered a blue barrier in the middle of the court and Nathan was not too thrilled about that. He kept saying, "Open it." Then he was also not too thrilled that Rachel could not sit with him and be with him during the game. He kept saying, "Rachel is coming back." But we moved from the bleachers to kind of the entry way the second half and he was a lot better because he could see what was going on the whole court. It was fun though and Rachel was glad to see us. I took a few cute pictures of her.

More Cute Pictures

I hope everyone had a good New Years day. We had a good time at Mema and Granddad's house for lunch. I took a few cute pictures that I thought I would share. One is of Nathan and Granddad's 1040 booklet. He found it on Granddad's desk and of course it had numbers(which everyone knows is Nathan's favorite)so he carried it around and he even brought it home with him. He is so funny I guess we could have saved money for Christmas and just got him a tax booklet. And silly me I bought a little digital clock to put in the spare bedroom because there is no clock in there and it bugs me. Well guess who found the clock. Yes my number boy. So I guess I will try to think of a new way to get a clock in the room. A new thing that Nathan has learned is his ones. You can ask him what 1 + 1 is and he will tell you and he will go all the way to 1 + 10. I hope everyone has a great weekend and great week.

Happy New Year

New Years 2009Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everyone did not stay out or up too late last night. We stayed home last night and watched the ball drop in New York which was 11:00 our time and then went to bed. I can tell I am a lot older than I used to be because we used to stay up and usually were at a party way past midnight. We are going to go over to Mema and Granddad's for lunch today, and of course we are going to have black eyed peas. I hope everyone remembers to eat their black eyed peas today to bring them good luck in the new year.
